Why use supply agency?
As an agency run by former teachers, Headline understand the difficulties schools & nurseries encounter when needing
to cover periods of staffing absence. Schools & nurseries come to Headline as we can provide supply cover with just
one phone call. As a candidate registered with Headline, you are employed by us, and Headline will deal with all personnel
matters including salary payments, tax and employers national insurance
Is supply work difficult?
Many of our teachers & nursery assistants had never done supply work before and now thoroughly enjoy it! Some have
gained long-term or permanent contacts as a result of their supply work. Nearly all Headline staff are experienced
teachers and we are always happy to discuss problems, offer support, suggestions and advice. Supply work is challenging
but very rewarding!
What are the advantages of supply work?
You can offer yourself for as much or as little work as you want, to fit in with the needs of your other part-time work,
seasonal work or family commitments. You can specify where you are willing to travel.
What types of assignments are available?
Assignments range from half a day emergency class cover, to longer term contracts. This may be to cover maternity leave, extended sick leave or to provide cover whilst a school is undergoing a permanent recruitment drive.
Why carry a portfolio?
Supply teachers never quite know what to expect when they undertake emergency work! In some schools, the day may be planned out for you, but in others, you may be requested to undertake your own work. Be prepared! Teachers should always carry a portfolio of work (a collection of assignments / worksheets) applicable to the age ranges and subjects they are to teach.
Does Headline operate a pension scheme?
Headline operates a stakeholders pension scheme.
Does Headline pay expenses?
If you are asked to attend an assignment outside of your specified travel radius, Headline will pay towards your travel expenses.
How will I be contacted?
Headline make a point of staying in regular contact with our teachers & nursery staff. This means we are able to respond to supply requests as quickly as possible. In all cases, the details of your assignment will be given to you by telephone, but longer term assignments may also be sent via email or post. We always try to give you as much notice as possible. If you are unavailable or a period of time, simply let us know, and call us when you are next available.
What are your office hours?
Our offices are manned between 7am and 6pm, but we also operate an out of hours emergency booking and messaging service which is checked regularly during the evenings and during weekends.
What happens if I am ill?
If you are ill or unable to attend an assignment, please notify a Headline consultant as soon as possible. As we operate an out of hours messaging service, you can always leave a message for us the night before – this helps us ensure the school has suitable cover without disruption.
What rates of pay can I expect?
Headline aim to pay the most competitive rates available. Teachers & nursery staff on longer term posts may receive additional payments for the increased responsibilities associated with such posts.
